• Take the English Skill test once you have completed the Nursing Course and score a minimum of 65 in it or you have to show that you have completed five years continuous education taught and assessed entirely in English in a recognized country. 
  (You must score overall seven bands with a score of 7 in all the four sections in the IELTS Exam. Or you should have cleared the Occupational English Test with a grade B. And if you have taken the PTE Exam your overall, and scores in each section should be 65 and above. If you opt for TOEFL iBT you must achieve an overall score of 94 with 24 in listening and reading and 27 in Writing and 23 in speaking).
• After completing your application, you must register yourselves with the AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) or NMBA (Nursing and midwifery board of Australia). 
• After that, get your skill assessment done with Australia Nursing & Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC), the NMBA will assess whether you meet the requirements or not. And if you get your Skill assessment done successfully, you will receive an invitation to apply for Visa in Australia. 

Note: Even if you have completed your Bachelor degree in Nursing from Countries like Canada, UK, USA or Ireland and are registered there; but you still need to get the full skill assessment done. 

And if you are authorized practitioner in New Zealand, you need to apply for registration with NMBA. 

What are the Visa types that create the PR Pathway? 

The qualified nurses are generally on the Short-term Skilled Occupation list or the Medium and long-term strategic skill list. And there are different potential Visa types to apply for the PR Visa:

Skilled Assessment Visa (Subclass Visa 189) 

Subclass Visa 189 allows you to study, Work and Live in Australia. To get the invitation with Subclass 189, you need to fulfil the English skill test requirement and follow the entire process.

Skill Nominated Visa (Subclass 190) 

This Visa type is very similar to Subclass 189, but this requires you to get a nomination from the state with nursing on the occupation list. You meet all the eligibility criteria for the same. 

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa – Subclass (491) 

This type of visa also need you to take the language skill test, and it allows you to work, live or study in Australia in selected regional areas for five years. You need to get nominated by a state or territory, or any of your relatives must sponsor you. It again requires you to be on the skilled occupation list. With this visa, you can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want. 

Skilled Employer-Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494) 

The regional employers face the shortage of a skilled employee and if they are willing to sponsor you; you can get this visa. This visa type needs you to have experience in the relevant field, and you can apply for the PR after working for three years. This visa type allows you to stay for five years. 

Temporary Skilled Shortage Visa (Subclass 482) 

This is also a similar type of visa to the previous one where the employer must be ready to sponsor you, and you need to be with the right skills and on the occupation list by meeting the requirement of English language.  

Employer Nomination Scheme Visa (Subclass 186)  

This visa type needs you to have the required skills for the job and an experience of 3 years in the nominated occupation, nomination by the employer and meet the health and character requirements. The most beneficial part of this visa type is that its permanent and also if you have TSS or Subclass 457 visa you can apply for the PR Visa (Only after working for three years).
