Types of Occupational Training – Subclass 407

1) Occupational Training Required for Registration

Designed for applicants who must complete supervised, workplace-based training to obtain registration, membership, or licensing in their occupation. This requirement must be mandatory to work in the role in Australia or overseas.

2) Training to Improve Skills in an Eligible Occupation

The most common stream for applicants undertaking structured, on-the-job training in an eligible occupation. A customised training plan must directly address skill development needs.

3) Occupational Training for Capacity Building Overseas

For applicants completing practical training, research, observation or professional development as part of their overseas studies, or when supported by an employer or government agency.

Three-Step Process – Training Visa (Subclass 407)

Step 1: Become an Approved Temporary Activities Sponsor
