New Graduate Stream from WA

With the motive to provide graduates of the WA a chance to live and work in the state on a permanent basis, WA has introduced the “New Graduate Stream for WA”.

Till now, the procedure for Nomination was - Candidates having any occupation that is listed in Western Australian Skilled Migration Occupation List (WASMOL) can apply for Western Australian State nomination. There were a limited number of professions given in the list and most of them were for medical professionals due to which non Medical candidates were not able to avail the opportunity from WA.

New Graduate Stream from WA Effective from 25 September 2018

By choosing either through Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190); or Skilled Regional (Provision) visa (subclass 489), Non-Medical contenders can grab the opportunity to live and work in Western Australia under the Graduate Stream (choosing occupation given in Graduate occupation list (GOL)).

The Benefit of New Skilled Migration Graduate Stream

The main advantage of the WA Graduate Stream is that now there are several occupational options for which candidates can go for. The options include Professionals, Engineers, Medicals and ICT specialists and many more.

Requirements for WA Graduate Stream:

Following are the requirements that applicants must fulfill for WA Graduate Stream:

  • Candidate must have completed 02 years of full-time higher education qualification completed from an affiliated WA university.
  • Candidate must be eligible for occupation given in the GOL (Graduate Occupation List) either through Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190); or Skilled Regional (Provision) visa (subclass 489)
  • Well, Graduate Occupation List includes a variety of occupation options. But there is a condition that candidates having Master degree and Doctoral degree can choose any of the profession given, while on the other hand candidates having any other degree can opt only a few of them.
  • While choosing the occupation candidates must take care of the fact that they must be able to demonstrate the language required for that particular profession that is listed on occupation group 1 and 2. Along with that proficiency in English is also required.
  • Candidates applying for WA Graduate Stream must have a 01-year working experience in Australia. Candidates having 03 years working experience abroad are also eligible to apply. (Must note that the experience must be related to the listed profession or closely related listed profession).
  • If you are using the New Graduate Stream and hold a Western Australian PhD or Masters Degree, the work experience requirement is waived for your Western Australian State nomination.
  • Furthermore, aspirants applying for the Western Australia Graduate Stream must have a Job Offer from an Australian Company for at least 01 years or more.

English language test minimum required scores

Aspirants picking up an ANZSCO Major Profession Group 1 (Managers) or Group 2 (Professionals) occupations on the Western Australian Skilled Migration Occupation List (WASMOL), or all occupations on the Graduate occupation list (GOL), must meet the minimum English language scores given in below table (A):

Aspirants who choose other ANZSCO Major Occupation Groups given in the Western Australian Skilled Migration Occupation List (WASMOL) must qualify the test and gain minimum English language scores as given in below table (B):

  • Other Requirements:
Demonstrated sufficient settlement funds

If you are a resident of the country other than Australia then there is one more condition you have fulfilled and that is the demonstration of sufficient settlements of funds. It is a mandate condition for you to bring sufficient funds into the State to cover your settlement costs. The minimum amount of funds required is:

  • For A Single Person – $20,000 (AUD);
  • For A Couple – $30,000 (AUD); And
  • For Every Additional Dependant – $5,000 (AUD).

While the State nomination application procedure, authorities will ask you to present the proof of funds you are having. Verification of funds will be done through bank statements or asset valuations.
